Contents

Antique auctions, auction houses & auctioneers are by far the best source for antiques.

Local UK antique auctions and auction houses are probably the best place in the world to search for and to buy antiques because of the country's rich history of invasion, conquest, trade and invention.

UK Antique auctioneers probably stock and sell more genuine antiques per square mile than any other country.

Almost every British town and village has an antiques shop and almost all UK cities hold reputable local antique auctions.

Local auction houses are were you find the best quality antiques at the most reasonable prices.

Below are listed some of the finest national, international and local auctions where you can always be sure of finding quality antique pieces.

Collecting Buying and Selling Antiques in the UK

Antiques in the UK are usually defined as objects over 100yrs old and can range in diversity from a vase or a porcelain figure to furniture or early vehicles.

Antiques can be bought from antique shops, estate sales, auction houses, online auctions or car boot sales. They can also be inherited.

Local antique auctions are your best source for quality antiques at reasonable prices and are usually held at local antique auction houses in the areas, cities and towns listed above.

Various popular TV programs tend to devalue antiques by focusing on buying antiques from dealers at fairs to later sell at auction, which is completely the wrong way round.

Antique collectors and sellers should source antiques from local auction houses and then sell online or at fairs and antiques markets.

About 25% of the UK population collect some form of antique or collectible and according to the British Antique Dealers Association there are around 20,000 antique dealers operating in the UK.

None of whom are buying from other dealers to sell at auction.

Visit Antique Auctions ... buy antiques at rock bottom prices and either appreciate them or sell them where you're sure to make a profit.
