Mystery Marked - Stoneware Mug Art Pottery

Inaugural post in the Contemporary Discussion Forum, hope I don't mess up.
Well, I probably will, but I'm used to it. I'm a rank novice and really don't collect art pottery to begin with. More typically, I like glass and porcelain, but this piece called to me at a church "yard" sale. It has a heavy, thick drip-glaze in sky blue and red-brown. It's beauty lies in its own ugliness. It drew my attention several times while browsing tables away, so I finally just grabbed it and added it to my pile. Once home, I looked at it more closely and found a mark on the base of what I'm calling an apple tree, but have no clue in reality. I've shown many collectors, sellers, and a couple of auctioneers who have been around long enough to know a bit of everything. No avail. As it appears. I'm getting in on the ground floor of these Forums, perhaps we can figure this out together. I'm posting in Contemporary as the piece just doesn't feel old to me, but what do I know, really?
And now, I will leave this here in more capable hands.
